On August 6-7, 2020, the 8th Annual Conference on Vehicle Thermal Management Technology in China was successfully held in Shanghai. The conference was hosted by the Automotive Air Conditioning Working Committee of the China Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association and Jiadi Road Automobile, co-hosted by the “Refrigeration and Air Conditioning” magazine, and specially sponsored by Aotecar. It aimed to present the most cutting-edge technologies and market trends to the thermal management industry.
As an annual event in the field of vehicle thermal management with seven years of deep exploration, the annual meeting has become a leading platform for whole-vehicle and component cooperation and technical exchanges in the domestic industry. Despite the difficult market environment this year, the first day of the annual meeting attracted more than 200 thermal management industry professionals from automakers, key components such as air conditioning/batteries, system suppliers, testing service providers, material enterprises, and research institutes to attend and exchange ideas.

Ding Tao, the chairman of the Automotive Air Conditioning Working Committee of the China Association of Refrigeration and the chairman of Nanjing Aotecar New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., mentioned in his opening speech that against the backdrop of the ravaging epidemic and international political turmoil, the automotive thermal management industry has overcome various difficulties, actively innovated, and remained true to its original aspiration. The quality of thermal management technology directly affects core performance such as vehicle comfort, safety, and range, and there is revolutionary potential for technological optimization in these areas. He believes that this annual meeting will help industry professionals engage in thorough intellectual exchanges.

The two topic sections on the first day of the annual meeting were chaired by Dr. Mu Jingyang, the Technical Director of the Air Conditioning International China Technology Center. From the perspectives of both original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and key components, they presented the common challenges and development difficulties in the current thermal management industry.

Dr. Hong Guangze, CTO of Aotecar, deconstructed the “past and present” of automotive thermal management architecture, and emphasized on topics that have garnered significant attention within the industry in recent years, such as heat pumps, modularization of thermal management systems, and thermal management systems in the era of autonomous driving. Dr. Hong Guangze emphasized that the reliability of electric compressors is crucial to ensuring the performance of automotive thermal management systems. The translation for this presentation was provided by Chen Xiangji, Vice General Manager of Aotecar.

Over the past eight years, the China Vehicle Thermal Management Technology Annual Conference has gained the trust of an increasing number of industry professionals with its professional and cutting-edge technical topics and extensive market coverage. With the active participation and lively discussions of industry insiders, this annual conference has once again come to a successful conclusion. Despite experiencing a difficult industrial environment and the COVID-19 crisis, the Chinese vehicle thermal management industry has remained true to its original aspiration, pursued technological innovation, and bravely embraced transformation and change. It will surely turn crises into opportunities and rise with the wind.
